What is conversion rate optimization (CRO)?

Conversion rate optimization is the systematic process of increasing the percentage of visitors who take a desired action on your website — whether that's purchasing, signing up, or clicking through. CRO uses data from analytics, heatmaps, session recordings, and A/B testing to identify friction points and test improvements.

Key Considerations

  • Small CRO improvements compound — a 1% lift across a high-traffic funnel is significant revenue
  • Always test one variable at a time to isolate what's actually driving the change
