Domain Investing 101: What Makes a Domain Valuable

Domain names are digital real estate, and like physical property, their value depends on location, scarcity, and demand.

Brandability is the top value driver. Short, memorable, easy-to-spell domains command premium prices. One-word .com domains are the gold standard.

Extension hierarchy: .com remains king, followed by country-code TLDs for local markets. New gTLDs like .io and .ai have carved out niches in tech.

Length is inversely correlated with value — shorter is almost always better. Three-letter .com domains start at five figures.
